Micheal Beasley, after this picture he put on Twitter to show off his new tattoo showed some hidden and suspicious plastic bags (Marijuana? Hash? pills?) in the background, was forced to get into a clinic for a rehab, officially for a depression. Beasley, 2nd overall pick of Miami Heat in the 2008 NBA Draft, is one of the most talented young kid in the game, still has to connect his head and to learn how to play just a little bit of defence. Weird how the guy was basically diagnosed on Twitter, after posting tweets such as: “Feelin like it’s not worth livin!!!!!!! I’m done.” and “Y do I feel like the whole world is against me…I can’t win for lose.”. Pretty psicho-drama queen, but I understand the kid. Being such a high draft pick puts a lot of pressure on you, and I don’t think putting 6 million dollars straigh in the hands of a 19 years old kid doesn’t help either. Good luck Mike.

Kevin Durant, Andre Iguodala, Rashard Lewis and Mo Williams star in this weird commercial-video, as crew members of an old school hip hop act. Coming straight out of the “Do the right thing” cast, this commercial pairs with Adidas (Kevin Garnett’s) House Party, trying to create a true full lenght videoclip instead of just a commercial. Does it work? Maybe, just too “I want to be cool and funny” to be true. Nice streetball, bad lyrics.

On of the funniest player ever. The tallest ever to put a foot on an NBA parquet. This is a great commercial for Snickers: a cabbage cologne. “is that cabbage Gheorghe? yaeh chicks dig it!”.The romanian 7ft 7 center will always be in my heart. Maybe not the best player, too tall and skinny to be effective and stay away from injuries. Still, he was MIP and had a decent career overall. And he made great commercials.

And here’s dancin Gheorghe (not George!) for Sports Center:

Ok, I’m an NBA fan. And I’m a big Toronto Raptors fan too. And I’m Italian.

So, when the Raptors got Marco Belinelli, the italian Kobe, for a bag of chips (a guy called George) that really made my day. Marco is going to choose the number ZERO, because of the lack of minutes he played in Golden State, and because of the “fresh start” he’s gonna have in Toronto. At least, I hope he’s gonna. Nothing new:

Gilbert Arenas made a commercial in 2007, in the “Impossible is nothing” campaign for Adidas. Not a bad video, a good American dream: from 0 minutes to all star. Same as Beli?

Kobe Bryant e Lebron James sul campo NBA

Normally i don’t talk about tv promos. But this one is a very evocative one, about the two best living basketball players, who are probably going to be faced in the NBA finals: Kobe Bryant and Lebron James. Friends in life, competing against each other on the basketball field.

NBA promos always use the same trick: heroicity in sports are the two equal part of a champion. Balanced and distributed between the two equal and opposite forces: Offese and Defence.

It’s on the radio. His whole sport life it’s on the radio. Not the winnings, not the trophies.

Just the injuries, just the losses.

That’s sport, that’s NBA, that’s fans.

Dwyane Wade is a guy that always stands up against the worse critics. One of my favourite players, and another really cool NBA commercial from Converse.

Funny how a lot of great NBA commercials don’t have any actual game in it. Like Garnett to Boston commercial I wrote about a few months ago.
